Sustainability and recycling

Together we are responsible for keeping the earth rotating.  Animo is aware of the general importance of sustainable business and makes a green contribution in the value chain in various ways. We would like to tell you what our green contributions are:

Durability life of the machines

Thanks to the high quality materials used by Animo, the coffee machines have a long cycle. Many parts are compatible for different types of machines. The number of (spare) parts to be used is therefore reduced to a minimum. This means that parts can easily be replaced in case of a defect. In addition, the base of all machines consists of stainless steel. This stainless steel is not only indestructible, but raw material is also 100% recyclable. The glass and copper used in the machines are also fully recyclable. As a result, it means that Animo machines are almost completely recyclable!

Recyclability per coffee machine

You can probably imagine that a coffee machine consists of many parts. At Animo, a coffee machine consists of an average of 300 different parts. In order to realize the recyclability, all parts are weighed and the material types are identified. This results in a complete inventory of 6 material types per machine, namely: stainless steel, steel, plastic, electronic components, glass and copper. We determine the recyclability per machine by assigning a percentage to the materials and weights. This means that the materials have the same purpose even before they are processed into the product.

Recycling commitment

Dutch legislation requires producers and importers of electrical and electronic equipment to take care of the collection and recycling of old and used equipment. Animo is a member of Weee Nederland. Weee stands for 'Waste Electrical and Economic Equipment'. They take care of the collection, recycling and environmentally friendly disposal of electronic waste.

From coffee grounds to oyster mushroom

Due to the extensive testing of machines, we occasionally have an abundance of coffee grounds (currently about 180 kg per week!). As Animo is aware of the importance of sustainable entrepreneurship and always is considering about re-use and recycling of materials and food, we came into contact with Westerzwam

"Westerzwam puts the circular economy into practice and offers a short-chain solution for circular food production. By working together with the entire chain." They grow oyster mushrooms on the coffee grounds, from restaurants and now also from Animo! A win-win situation and very nice to contribute to this!

Animo

Animo is committed to sustainable profit for the environment, society and employees. We subscribe to the motto: Recycle to the max!
