A working day in the life of Arnoud

In this new blog, we take you through a working day in the life of Arnoud

The account manager at Animo

The night before, I often check the calendar for the next day, this to know where I need to go so I can take into account traffic or the distance I need to drive. Depending on what time and where I need to be, I leave from home towards the customer/dealer.

The number of appointments depends greatly on the type of calls; our goal is to do three in a day.

There is always a reason or purpose for making the appointment, this could be collaboration, a new product, lagging sales, growing sales, no longer wanting to carry a particular product. The common thread is always trade.

On the road to the customer

7:45 a.m. – The car warms up and I begin my drive
In the morning before I get in the car to go to my clients, I check the current traffic information and my e-mail. Then I drive to the first appointment of the day. During one such drive, I call our inside sales colleagues to find out if there are any particulars that day or if there are any points of interest that I can bring up during the customer meeting.
9:30 a.m. – First appointment of the day
Arriving at the client’s house, I first enjoy a nice cup of coffee. After that, ongoing issues between the dealer and Animo are discussed. The appointments I have with my clients are very different in content. For example, we have annual meetings where we look back on the past year and look ahead to new developments for the coming year.

The tender

11:00 a.m. – Second appointment
This appointment I have with the dealer is to accompany him with a tender. A private tender has been issued by an institution and based on the program of requirements (PVE), I am going to help the dealer offer the right equipment. In addition, we are going through all the points of the PVE in order to provide the best possible interpretation of this tender. I also provide all requested documentation such as; CSR documents and sustainability information.
12:15 p.m. – En route to the third appointment and a short break
After the previous appointment I drive towards my third appointment, on the way I get out of the car and eat a sandwich. During lunch, I read through my mail and do some callbacks.

Trial placement of the OptiBean X

1:30 p.m. – Third appointment
A trial placement with an OptiBean X is scheduled this afternoon. I go with the dealer to an end customer of his to provide a trial placement. The vending machine is then set up according to the end customer’s and dealer’s wishes and explanations are given. The vending machine can then remain for a period of about two weeks so that the end customer can get a good impression of the machine and its operation.
4:30 p.m. – Home again
Just grabbing the computer and finishing up the emails, also I look at tomorrow. What appointments are scheduled for that day and the I prepare.
